About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and creative Digital Content Manager to oversee and grow the digital presence of our fishing and agricultural media brands. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong editorial instincts, commercial awareness, and a passion for digital publishing, audience growth, and social media.

You will be responsible for managing websites, newsletters, social media channels, digital editions, managing freelance web editors and supporting digital advertising activity, while working closely with editorial, sales, and events teams.

Key Responsibilities

Content & Editorial Management

  • Act as online editor for the Fishing News website, publishing and managing articles from the newspaper, as well as ensuring weekly public notices are uploaded accurately and on time. Attend and support the Fishing News Awards for online audiences with social posts and online content.
  • Act as online editor for the Farmer’s Mart website, sourcing agricultural press releases.
  • Upload monthly digital editions of three agricultural magazines to their websites.
  • Carry out video editing for digital and social platforms.
  • Maintain high editorial standards, including sub-editing and content optimisation for digital.
  • Managing and supporting freelance digital editors.
  • Work with Tech teams to build and optimise new websites.
  • Act as editor for Agricultural Trader, ensuring client editorial is in on time and in line with the brand’s editorial style and writing original news items from press releases.
  • Flatplan, create content, and manage Show guides for yearly farming event.

Audience Growth & Analytics

  • Monitor web traffic across agricultural titles using analytics tools.
  • Identify opportunities to grow traffic and engagement, and implement strategies to increase audience reach.
  • Track and report on website performance, social media growth, and newsletter subscriptions.
  • Monitor competitor activity and digital trends within the agricultural and fishing sectors.

Social Media & Newsletters

  • Oversee social media channels and manage freelance social media staff across all brands.
  • Oversee the creation of new social pages when needed.
  • Plan and execute social media campaigns to grow engagement and followers.
  • Create, schedule, and send digital newsletters.
  • Work with editorial teams to grow newsletter and social audiences.

Commercial & Sales Support

  • Support the sales team in delivering and fulfilling digital advertising campaigns across agricultural brands.
  • Ensure digital advertising content is uploaded correctly and performs effectively.
  • Balance editorial integrity with commercial objectives.

Events Support

  • Attend and support company events.
  • Manage event-related social media activity before, during, and after events.
  • Populate and update Event websites and ticketing sites.
  • Capture imagery and content for use across social and digital platforms.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Strong editorial and sub-editing skills, with experience publishing digital content.
  • Proven experience using WordPress CMS.
  • A deep understanding of Google Analytics.
  • Good working knowledge of digital marketing, including audience growth strategies.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and paid/organic social campaigns.
  • Experience monitoring analytics and using insights to improve performance.
  • Video editing skills.
  • Digital design skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and ‘out of the box’ to grow digital brands.
  • Commercial awareness alongside strong editorial judgement.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • An interest in, or willingness to stay up to date with, agricultural and fishing industry trends and social media developments.

Desirable

  • Experience working in media, publishing, or trade titles.
  • Familiarity with agricultural or rural audiences.
  • Photography or basic design skills.
  • Experience working within Google Ads across Search, Display, YouTube video, Performance Max, Demand Gen (formerly Discovery), and Shopping campaigns.
